My Approach

As a sleep consultant, my priority is always for you and your family to get more rest. I do this using responsive, gentle and evidence-based strategies to optimise your baby or child's sleep, whilst also taking into account the bigger picture and addressing any issues that may be causing disrupted sleep.
I am very passionate about the 'family-centred approach' and focus a lot on maternal and paternal wellbeing and sleep in addition to your little one's sleep. There is a wealth of research suggesting this is one of the most effective things you can do to improve sleep! If you are looking for some support for your family's sleep, I would love to help you feel empowered, confident and in control of your situation. Please read on to find out more about my approach.
If you feel you need to make changes more quickly, there are always gentle methods we can try. We can discuss in more detail in our discovery call together. If we are not a good fit, I can refer you to a different gentle sleep consultant who may be able to provide you with the outcome you desire.
I work holistically and think of your child's sleep like a puzzle. To find out what might be going on and support you to improve things, I'll take into account these things:
✔️ Age/developmental stage and what is normal infant behaviour
✔️ Emotional well-being, stress, mental health and anxiety
✔️ Your child's temperament, behaviour and personality
✔️ Your parenting style
✔️ Nutrition, allergies, feeding and diet
✔️ Health issues, medication, any concerns and who I can refer you on to if necessary
✔️ Exercise, sleep hygiene and your child's current habits/routine
✔️ Sleep biology
✔️ Your family unit and home environment
At Rest and Grow Sleep, we provide 1:1 sleep coaching. This means our suggestions will always take into account your needs, priorities and goals as a family. You do not have to stop breastfeeding, cosleeping, contact napping, or responding to your child if you don't want to, in order to make changes.
The strategies I suggest are responsive and evidence-based. We must remember that our babies and toddlers are little people - not robots! I have experienced first-hand, and with many of my clients, how making changes in a responsive and attachment-focused way can drastically improve things.
Some parents will not feel ready to make changes and only require some reassurance that what they are doing is right. I can provide education on what is normal infant sleep, and what to expect in the following months and provide some tips to optimise your current situation.
My approach centres around these key themes:

Holistic and tailored to your family
Every child is different, every situation is different. I use my knowledge and expertise to fully assess your situation, before making any recommendations. I have extensive experience working with young children with Special Educational Needs.

Evidence-based and research informed
Understanding the complexities of sleep biology, child temperament and attachment bonding with young children requires a high level of understanding. Which is why I
use the latest research and my support network of experienced professionals to help inform my sleep plans.

Inclusive
Having worked in education for nearly 10 years, I have met and worked with the most amazing array of children and families. If you chose to work with me, as well as working holistically around the subject of sleep, I take into account your circumstances, priorities, cultural preferences and parenting style in order to support you the best I can.

Gentle and attachment focused
I am really passionate about supporting parents with their preferences, but I will always prioritise attachment and bonding as the bedrock of my sleep plans. Sleep is often difficult for children as it represents a period of separation from you. So I focus on connection and communication when making any changes.
